Abstract: The objective of this study is to carry out a systematic literature review of works that address language and Theory of Mind assessments in individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), providing broad knowledge with greater possibilities for diagnosing people with ASD. To select the studies, a bibliographic survey of texts published between 2013 and 2023 was carried out in electronic databases LILACS, SciELO, PubMed and Cochrane. Based on the title, the descriptors in Health Sciences were defined. From all the studies found (n=5) through the inclusion criteria and prior analysis of the abstract. With the complete analysis, (n=2) studies were found that were consistent with this research. Research shows that individuals with a possible diagnosis of ASD, after language assessment in conjunction with ToM, showed changes in language and cognition tests. The findings are related in an attempt to understand the associations between normal patterns and those of individuals with ASD. Development comprises several factors and the senses shape experiences, which makes it difficult for children with ASD to develop fully. Despite the studies listed in this review, it is possible to highlight the lack of research that addresses the relationship between sensory changes and their influence on language.
