Abstract: This chapter presents a brief review of the potential of energy harvesting techniques for the development of self-powered systems that include micro-generators, autonomous sensors and the Internet of Things (IoT). Initially, the importance of energy conservation and efficiency is discussed, highlighting the need to improve effective techniques for harnessing residual energy, with a focus on efficiency, conservation and sustainability. Subsequently, the main forms of utilization based on Energy Harvesting are explored, including methods such as piezoelectricity, thermoelectricity, magnetic coupling, radiofrequency and solar. Finally, examples of applications are presented which illustrate the potential of these techniques for the development of self-powered systems.
