REUTILIZAÇÃO DE EMBALAGENS PLÁSTICAS DE TALHERES EM ATIVIDADES DE EDUCAÇÃO AMBIENTAL
É notável que apesar das
discussões envolvendo questões ambientais e
a conscientização da população acerca desses
temas venha crescendo ao longo dos anos, os
setores privados e governamentais seguem impulsionando a produção de resíduos sólidos
urbanos, sem que soluções efetivas para o
seu tratamento sejam implementadas. Dessa
forma, torna-se indispensável que o tema
da produção crescente de resíduos sólidos
urbanos seja abordado e ações práticas sejam
adotadas. O presente trabalho buscou realizar
a coleta de saquinhos plásticos utilizados
para a distribuição de talheres no Restaurante
Universitário da Universidade Federal do
Recôncavo da Bahia, campus Cruz das Almas,
para a sua reutilização em atividades de
educação ambiental realizadas com crianças
de uma escola da rede pública municipal. Os
saquinhos coletados foram utilizados para o
armazenamento de sementes para exposição;
a confecção de brindes e a elaboração de um
jogo envolvendo sementes arbóreas. Essas
iniciativas se mostraram viáveis e foram bem
aceitas pelas crianças. Além disso, a coleta do
material evidenciou a elevada quantidade de
resíduos sólidos urbanos produzidos pelo RU
a partir dos saquinhos plásticos, o que acabou
acarretando na suspensão da sua utilização e,
consequente, redução dos resíduos gerados
pelo restaurante. O trabalho desenvolvido
contribuiu para promover a conscientização
ambiental de estudantes e, de forma não
prevista, para a conscientização dos próprios
gestores do RU. Em conclusão, esse trabalho
demonstrou a importância de se desenvolver iniciativas de educação ambiental que promovam a reutilização de resíduos sólidos
urbanos, contribuindo para a redução desse problema ambiental.

Abstract:
It is remarkable that even tough the discussions involving environmental
issues and the awareness of the population concerning these issues have been
growing over the years, the private and governmental sectors continue promoting
the production of urban solid waste, without implementing effective solutions for its
treatment. In this sense, it is indispensable that the theme of urban solid waste is dealt
with and that practical actions be adopted. The present work sought to collect small
plastic bags used for the distribution of cutlery in the University´s Restaurant University
at the Federal University of the Recôncavo of Bahia, Cruz das Almas campus, and
reuse them in environmental education activities carried out with children from a
school in the municipal public network. The collected bags were used to store seeds
for exhibition; to produce a small gift, and to prepare a game involving tree seeds.
These initiatives proved viable and were well accepted by the children. Furthermore,
the collection of the material evidenced the high amount of urban solid waste produced
by the restaurant derived from the small plastic bags, which caused the suspension
of its use, reducing the production of waste by the restaurant. This work contributed
to promote the environmental awareness of students and, in a non foreseen way, of
the restaurant´s managers. In conclusion, this work demonstrated the importance of
developing environmental education initiatives that promote the reuse of urban solid
waste, contributing to the reduction of this environmental problem
