Abstract: The chapter discusses obesity as a serious public health issue, associated with various adverse conditions, including type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. Faced with the need for more effective therapies, retatrutida emerges as a promising candidate for obesity management. This novel medication, an agonist of GLP-1, GIP, and glucagon receptors, shows potential benefits in regulating weight and blood glucose levels. The research adopted an approach based on clinical studies, analyzing qualitative data from academic sources and correlating the pathophysiology of obesity with the mechanism of action of Retatrutida. Preliminary results indicate an average weight reduction of 24.2% after 48 weeks of using this drug, results close to those of bariatric surgery. However, retatrutida remains in the stage of analysis and development, requiring further clinical studies to fully evaluate its long-term efficacy, safety, and tolerability. The conclusion emphasizes the importance of understanding the mechanism of action of retatrutida and its relevance in obesity management, offering hope for a more effective approach to obesity and its associated complications. The discussion on retatrutida in obesity may be crucial for promoting a multidisciplinary approach in its management, involving professionals from different healthcare areas and contributing to the development of new therapeutic strategies.
