Abstract: In recent years, the growing interest in sustainable materials reflects the quest to reduce the environmental impact. The strategy of reducing the proportion of epoxy resin in composites stands out for its potential in saving resources and reducing carbon emissions, especially when using waste that would otherwise be discarded. In this context, this study aims to evaluate how the incorporation of industrial waste influences the impact resistance of epoxy matrix composites. Five formulations were prepared, ranging from 0 to 20% of industrial gypsum particulates, originating from the lactic acid production process. In addition to impact tests, the densification of the formulations was also evaluated. The results indicate that the addition of waste progressively reduces the density of the composites. However, it was observed that it is possible to expertly replace the epoxy resin with the residue, without significant loss of impact resistance, as evidenced in this study.
