Abstract: Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is one of the most pressing global public health challenges, compromising treatment efficacy and increasing mortality associated with resistant infections. This study reviews key aspects of AMR, including its molecular mechanisms, determining factors, and emerging therapeutic approaches. The literature highlights the necessity of a multidisciplinary approach based on the One Health concept, which acknowledges the interconnection between human, animal, and environmental health. Promising strategies include next-generation antibiotics, bacteriophage therapy, probiotics, and combination therapies. Additionally, the implementation of epidemiological surveillance systems and rational antimicrobial use policies is essential to curb resistance spread. This study underscores the need for investment in research and development to tackle this growing issue and prevent alarming projections regarding the global impact of AMR.
