Abstract: Objective: To describe the benefits of resistance exercises and pharmacological treatment on the quality of life of patients with Parkinson's Disease (PD), considering its motor and non- motor aspects. Methods: This is a narrative review of the literature, carried out in the PubMed, SciELO, and Virtual Health Library (VHL) databases, with articles published between 2015 and 2024, in Portuguese, English, and Spanish, using the descriptors: "Parkinson's disease", "resistance exercises", and "quality of life". Results: PD impairs quality of life through motor (bradykinesia, rigidity, tremor, and gait changes) and non-motor (sleep disorders, depression, dysphagia, and cognitive deterioration) manifestations. Pharmacological treatment, especially with levodopa, relieves motor symptoms, but entails progressive adverse effects that negatively impact QoL. Resistance exercises demonstrate a relevant contribution to the improvement of muscle strength, balance, gait and QoL, enhancing the effects of drug treatment. Final Considerations: The combination of pharmacological treatment and resistance exercises, in a multidisciplinary approach, is essential to delay the progression of PD and promote greater autonomy and quality of life.
