Abstract: This chapter examines the resignification of academic value at the University of Antioquia, addressing its international, national, and institutional contexts. The resignification process seeks to overcome the traditional view focused on academic performance and market-oriented quality, proposing a more comprehensive understanding of academic value. This approach not only broadens the perspective of what constitutes quality education but also aligns with the principles of equity, inclusion, and human development. The study is based on a hermeneutic approach, using documentary analysis and prejudice guides to understand the perceptions and experiences of professors and students. The results present a new approach to the concept of academic value for higher education that integrates ethical, critical, and participatory formation, highlighting the importance of these elements to face contemporary challenges and prepare students as responsible citizens committed to society
