Abstract: The accumulation of heavy metals in bulletproof vests can occur due to the degradation of the materials used in their manufacture or exposure to projectiles and contaminated environments. These metals, such as lead, cadmium, and mercury, can infiltrate the vest fibers during prolonged use, especially in armed conflict situations where metal residues are released. The continued presence of these elements in the vests poses a health risk to users, potentially causing poisoning through skin contact or inhalation of released particles. Furthermore, improper disposal of this equipment at the end of its useful life can contribute to environmental contamination. Therefore, regular inspections, proper sanitation, and proper disposal of bulletproof vests are essential to minimize these risks.
