‘REPRESENTAÇÕES NEGRAS IMPORTAM’: BONECAS DE MODA E AS REPRESENTAÇÕES DE MULHERES NEGRAS
Este artigo é resultado de uma dissertação de mestrado que considera as imbricações entre criança, universo adulto e empoderamento. Sua análise é centrada nas metafunções representacionais e composicionais da GDV de Kress e van Leeuwen (1996 [2006]), e no Sistema de Transitividade que se encontra dentro da metafunção ideacional da LSF de Halliday (1978; 1985). A embalagem de uma boneca Barbie negra foi analisada, através de uma abordagem qualitativa-interpretativista, a fim de verificar as questões étnicas representadas nas bonecas de moda na última década. Os resultados revelaram uma representação empoderada de uma mulher negra por meio da Barbie, ao lado da incorporação de propriedades cinéticas mais flexíveis no design desta boneca.

Abstract:
This article is the result of a master’s thesis degree which considers the imbrications between children, adult’s universe and empowerment. Its analysis is centered on the representational and compositional metafunctions of the GVD of Kress and van Leeuwen (1996 [2006]), and on the System of Transitivity which is within the ideational metafunction of Halliday’s SFL (1978; 1985). The packaging of a black Barbie doll was analysed through a qualitative interpretivist approach in order to check the ethnical issues represented in fashion dolls over the last decade. The results revealed an empowered representation of a black woman through Barbie, alongside with the incorporation of more flexible kinetic properties in the design of this doll.
