REPRESENTAÇÕES LEXICAIS E SUBLEXICAIS DO ACENTO DE PALAVRA DE L1 E DE L2
Este estudo tem por objetivo mostrar um apanhado de experimentos que investigam a relação do acento de palavra com a sua representação tanto em primeira língua (L1) quanto em segunda língua (L2). Sabe-se que há duas vias de representação sonora de palavras: uma que é feita como unidade lexical que engloba as representações ortográfica, fonológica e semântica; outra sublexical, que permite a sua representação por suas partes sublexicais, como os fonemas individuais, sua composição em uma ordem fonotática, estrutura silábica e atribuição do acento como entidades separadas que formam uma palavra. Não é claro, porém, como o acento lexical está representado no inventário vocabular do falante, ou quais os mecanismos de recuperação dessa informação, se por via lexical ou sublexical. Os experimentos aqui apresentados investigam o processamento do acento de palavra a níveis sublexical e lexical em percepção e produção por falantes monolíngues e bilíngues (consecutivos tardios) usando métodos da psicolinguística experimental, como medição dos tempos de latência na nomeação de palavras e a técnica de rastreamento ocular; bem como medição da produção de vogais plenas e reduzidas e testes de percepção acústica. Os resultados mostram caminhos tanto lexicais quanto sublexicais de representação do acento de palavra quanto aos falantes monolíngues, e uma forte competição entre representações de L1 e de L2 por falantes bilíngues, refletindo um sistema misto de representações de acento com dominância da L1.

Abstract:
This study aims to show a survey of experiments that investigate the relationship of word stress with its representation both in first language (L1) and in second Language (L2). It is known that there are two ways of word sound representations: one that is made as a lexical unit that encompasses the orthographic, phonological, and semantic representations; and a sublexical one, which allows its representation by its sublexical parts, such as the individual phonemes, its composition in a phonotactic order, syllabic structure and assignment of word stress as separate entities that form a whole. It is unclear, however, how the lexical accent is represented in the speaker's vocabulary inventory, or which mechanisms of retrieval of this information, whether by lexical or sublexical routes. The experiments presented here investigate the processing of the word accent at lexical level and at the sublexical level in perception and production by monolingual and late bilingual speakers using methods of experimental psycholinguistics, such as measurement of latency times in word naming and the eye-tracking technique, and measurement of the production of full and reduced vowels and acoustic perception tests. The results show both lexical and sublexical paths of representation of word stress in monolingual speakers, and a strong competition between representations of L1 and L2 in bilingual speakers, reflecting a mixed system of representations of word stress with L1 dominance.
