Representaciones sociales y violencia de género
Un grave problema sociocultural está representado por la violencia contra las mujeres,
cuya legitimización, construcción y reproducción, viene dada desde los inicios de la
humanidad, y en el devenir del tiempo las creencias históricas, culturales y sociales han
establecido la práctica de violencia de género en el colectivo social naturalizándolas y
dando una visión de normalidad, llegando a ser aceptadas por la sociedad, sin que se
dé un debate o discusión intenso sobre los actos violentos que se realizan en los
momentos actuales. Aun cuando se han dado cambios muy importantes en la
sociedad, donde la mujer ha tenido relevancia y protagonismo, la cultura del silencio
sigue prevaleciendo, la violencia es como algo ancestral, difícil de cambiar, donde muy
pocas mujeres aceptan formar parte de esa cultura patriarcal y donde otras callan a
sabiendas que está en juego su vida y la de los suyos. Para la realización del presente
artículo que guarda relación con la realidad social actual del Ecuador, se efectuó una
revisión documental con información relacionada con la violencia hacia la mujer; las
normas y creencias que la apoyan y las representaciones sociales, entre otras.
Considerando finalmente que el basamento de la violencia hacia la mujer se
encuentra en los valores y normas afianzado en estructuras sociales que acrecientan
las desigualdades entre mujeres y hombres, que violan los derechos humanos de las
mujeres a través de prácticas cotidianas que se repiten una y otra vez en las formas de
socialización.

Abstract:
A serious sociocultural problem is represented by violence against women, whose
legitimization, construction and reproduction has been given since the beginning of
humanity, and in the course of time historical, cultural and social beliefs have
established the practice of gender violence. In the social collective naturalizing them
and giving a vision of normality, becoming accepted by society, without there being an
intense debate or discussion about the violent acts that are carried out at the present
time. Even when there have been very important changes in society, where women
have had relevance and leadership, the culture of silence continues to prevail, violence
is like something ancient, difficult to change, where very few women accept to be part of
that patriarchal culture. and where others remain silent knowing that their lives and
those of their loved ones are at stake. For the realization of this article that is related to
the current social reality of Ecuador, a documentary review was carried out with
information related to violence against women; the norms and beliefs that support it and
social representations, among others. Considering finally that the foundation of violence
against women is found in the values and norms entrenched in social structures that
increase inequalities between women and men, that violate the human rights of women
through daily practices that are repeated over and over again time in the forms of
socialization.
