REPRESENTAÇÃO DA LINGUAGEM VERBAL POR MEIO DE REDES SEMÂNTICAS: QUESTÕES CONCEITUAIS E SUAS IMPLICAÇÕES PARA ESTUDOS LINGUÍSTICOS
Neste artigo o objetivo é compreender em que medida a linguagem verbal pode ser representada por meio de redes semânticas, considerando as questões conceituais e suas implicações para os estudos linguísticos. Com base em uma revisão de literatura sobre conceitos de redes semânticas e em uma análise comparativa com o campo conceitual de significado, especialmente na semântica formal, compreendemos que as referidas redes representam a linguagem verbal por meio de palavras e não de significados. Por outro lado, a semântica e outros aspectos linguísticos podem ser estudados com o uso das redes de palavras, considerando que esse método de representação fornece índices quantitativos que se referem a características textuais e que podem ser correlacionados aos aspectos cognitivos da produção de linguagem na organização do conhecimento humano.

Abstract:
The present article has as its objective to understand the extent to which verbal language can be represented through semantic networks, considering the conceptual questions and their implications for linguistic studies. Based on a literature review on concepts of semantic networks and a comparative analysis with the conceptual field of meaning, especially in formal semantics, we understand that these networks represent verbal language through words and not meanings. On the other hand, semantics and other linguistic aspects can be studied through the use of word networks, considering that this method of representation provides quantitative indexes that refer to textual characteristics and that can be correlated to the cognitive aspects of language production in the organization of human knowledge.
