Abstract: The birth of a child is an occasion of complete transformation in the family's life cycle, bringing with it many questions and insecurity. In most cases, for the family, the health team is the main reference, being assigned to identify and address issues that may pose risks, becoming a link to overcome the difficulties of this adaptation stage. Child care is an important prevention strategy, therefore, a basic calendar of consultations is foreseen, promoting the active search for those who are absent in order to guarantee the quality of the assistance provided. The objective of this article is to analyze the relevance of child care for the early diagnosis of autism. The methodology used was the narrative review of the literature, indexed publications (articles, monographs and periodicals) about the importance of well-child care for the diagnosis and treatment of autism. The descriptors used were “autism”, “ASD” and “childcare”. The time interval of publications was from 2010 to 2023. After this screening, the literature found was read, analyzed and divided into groups that made up the sections of this article. After reading and separating, the scientific writing was assembled, pointing out the most relevant points of the last 12 years of the study theme. For all these reasons, it is concluded that it is possible to identify signs of alterations in child development in children during their childcare consultations. In addition, there are also difficulties in conceptualizing autism and lack of knowledge of early screening instruments for Autism Spectrum Disorder. Thus, it is important for parents to be aware of the importance of consultants in the early years, and the great impact on the treatment of the Disorder, when it is diagnosed early. Also, it is necessary to invest in training professionals about ASD to conduct such management effectively.
