Abstract: Higher education plays a key role in shaping individuals who actively contribute to society. Educational programmes must continuously evolve to meet the changing needs of the labour market, adopting a perspective focused on the development of relevant and up-to-date competences. The transition to the labour market faces several challenges, such as lack of work experience, lack of alignment between education received and specific market demands, as well as underutilization of students' personal competences, and persistent gender inequality in work roles. The aim is to explore the teamwork and problem-solving skills of architecture graduates from a university in Ecuador in order to analyse their preparation for professional challenges. It is essential that higher education not only provides theoretical knowledge, but also practical skills and transversal competences that are valued by employers. Competency-based training has become a key approach, promoting equal opportunities, and removing gender barriers in the labour market are crucial aspects that need to be addressed to ensure equity and diversity in the workplace.
