  • Abstract:

The general objective of this study is to demonstrate, through a systematic literature review, the relationship between tobacco use and Lung Cancer. The most prevalent cancers are lung, breast, prostate, uterus, bowel, stomach and liver. Lung cancer is the first most prevalent among men and the third among women. Scientific evidence has indicated that tobacco has been the main cause of lung cancer. However, the most worrying are the impacts on health caused by tobacco use, as it is assured that 90% of lung tumors are caused by the use of this substance. The search carried out through the Bireme databases resulted in 758 articles, through PubMed 1489 articles were obtained, Medline 458 articles were found and Lilacs 279 articles directly related to the theme. After reading and evaluating the abstracts of the articles, according to the criteria described, 128 articles were selected, 36 of which were obtained from the two search engines (Bireme and PubMed), 24 were obtained from Medline and only 12 from Lilacs. Many articles were repeated in different sources, that is, 29%. Although the pathophysiological mechanism of smoking is not well understood, it is known that it activates the local and systemic release of catecholamines, gradually increasing blood pressure and heart rate, and is also responsible for the increase in the number of lung cancers. However, it is also emphasized that, according to the American Agency, the impact on smoking cessation is directly related to the time used in consultations with guidelines and techniques to stop smoking, with greater emphasis on primary prevention, in the sense of avoiding smoking. contact of adolescents with cigarettes in schools. The general objective of this study is to demonstrate, through a systematic literature review, the relationship between tobacco use and Lung Cancer.
