Abstract: This chapter addresses two key approaches to understanding learning: cognitivism and constructivism. Through the analysis of authors such as Jean Piaget, Jerome Bruner, David Ausubel, Robert Gagné, and Benjamin Bloom, the chapter explores how learning involves complex mental processes such as perception, memory, and reasoning. It then delves into the constructivist ideas of Lev Vygotsky, John Dewey, Maria Montessori, and the Agazzi sisters, who emphasize that knowledge is actively constructed through interaction with the environment and personal experience. Throughout the chapter, theoretical foundations, key principles, practical contributions, and applied examples are presented, showcasing the relevance and richness of these approaches in contemporary education.
