Abstract: This chapter presents the foundations of behaviorism, one of the most influential learning theories of the 20th century. Through the study of four major figures -Ivan Pavlov, John B. Watson, Edward L. Thorndike, and B. F. Skinner- the chapter analyzes the core ideas of this approach: observable behavior, the association between stimuli and responses, and the role of reinforcement in behavior modification. Based on their contributions, the chapter reflects on the educational applications of behaviorism, particularly in programmed instruction, the use of rewards and punishments, and the structuring of controlled learning environments.
