Abstract: The development of an efficient project for wastewater treatment is crucial for mitigating environmental impacts on water resources. Slaughterhouse wastewater carries a significant organic and nutrient load, requiring a robust treatment facility. In this context, this study aims to propose methodologies for projects aimed at treating wastewater from a beef slaughterhouse. Among the technologies investigated, the anaerobic filter stood out, with the potential to achieve up to 70% effectiveness in removing Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD). The facultative pond, on the other hand, can provide up to 91,86% removal, with a hydraulic retention time (t) of 28 days. The facultative aerated pond, with a t of 8 days, demonstrated a remarkable efficiency of 85.4% in BOD removal, and the complete mix pond with a t of 3 days showed an efficiency of 94%. Regarding total nitrogen and phosphorus removal, the results revealed efficiencies of 80% and 60%, respectively, in pond treatment. These data underscore the effectiveness of the proposed system in reducing these elements, contributing to the feasibility and effectiveness of the project in the context of treating wastewater from cattle farming.
