RECOMENDAÇÕES PARA A PRÁTICA ODONTOLÓGICA DURANTE A EPIDEMIA DE COVID-19: REVISÃO NARRATIVA
O mundo tem enfrentando uma pandemia nunca antes vista. O cirurgião-dentista, no tocante às peculiaridades de seu trabalho, tem grande risco de adquirir e transmitir o novo coronavírus. Minimizar este risco é uma ação de saúde pública que contribui diretamente para a saúde de todos os profissionais envolvidos no atendimento, bem como dos pacientes. Esse trabalho objetiva apresentar através de uma revisão narrativa, as recomendações para os cirurgiões-dentistas nos atendimentos eletivos, de urgência e de traumas faciais, durante o período de pandemia do COVID-19. Foram pesquisados artigos nas bases de dados: Pubmed ("covid 19 OR coronavirus”, dental practice OR dentistry, Guideline OR Guide OR protocol, 1 AND 2 AND 3); Periódicos Capes (“coronavirus” AND “dental practice”) e Google Scholar (com todas as palavras: “Covid 19”, com a frase exata: “dental practice”, com pelo menos uma das palavras: “guide” e com um limite de 2015 a 2020). Foram encontrados 36 referências. Após remoção de artigos duplicados, 33 foram selecionados para leitura do título e resumo e apenas 9 apresentaram-se elegíveis para a segunda fase da revisão sistemática, na qual foi realizada a leitura completa dos artigos. Destes, somente 7 foram incluídos nesta revisão. Juntamente a estes artigos foram adicionados manualmente 6 guidelines, totalizando 13 referências. Os autores concluíram que mesmo os cirurgiões-dentistas tendo um alto risco de contaminação pelo COVID-19, o bem estar dos pacientes deve prevalecer. O profissional está apto a decidir pelo atendimento ou não. O grande diferencial é o cumprimento das normas de biossegurança por parte de todos os envolvidos, para que ações de prevenção da transmissão do COVID-19 possam tornar o atendimento mais seguro.

The world has been going through a pandemic never seen before. The dentist surgeon, due to the contact required by the line of work, is at great risk of acquiring/transmitting the virus. Minimizing such risk is of public health’s best interest and contributes for the safety of all professional workers, as well as patients. This work aims to present through a narrative review is to present the recommendations to the dentist surgeons in elective appointments, urgent appointments and facial traumas during this period of pandemic COVID-19. Articles were searched in the databases: Pubmed (“covid 19 OR coronavirus”, dental practice OR dentistry, Guideline OR Guide OR protocol, 1 AND 2 AND 3); Periodicos Capes (“coronavirus AND dental practice”) and in Google Scholar (with all words: “Covid 19, with the exact phrase: “dental practice”, with at least the word “guide”, and a limit of between 2015 and 2020 was used. Thirty-six references were found. After removing the duplicated articles, 33 were selected for screening by title and summary, and only nine were eligible to the second phase of the systematic review. In the second phase the nine articles were read completely. Of these articles, 7 were included in this review. Along with these articles, 6 guidelines were manually added, with a total of 13 references. The authors concluded that even dentists have a high risk of contamination by Covid-19, the patient well being must be put first. The professional must decide if he wants to continue running appointments or not. The great differential is the fulfillment of the norms of biosafety by all those involved, so that the actions for prevention of Covid-19 transmission can make appointments safer.
