Abstract: Root resorptions are physiological or pathological processes that lead to the progressive destruction of cementum and root dentin, and they can be classified as internal, external, inflammatory, or replacement resorption. With multifactorial origins, dental trauma represents the most relevant etiological factor for their incidence. Among the treatment options for root resorptions, regenerative endodontic treatment has been reported as an option with promising results. The aim of this chapter is to review in the literature the use of regenerative endodontics as a treatment for cases of root resorption. An advanced search was conducted in the PUBMED database using the combination of the following descriptors: "Regenerative Endodontics," "Root resorption," "Regenerative treatment," and "dental trauma." In total, 19 articles that met the eligibility criteria were selected, including clinical studies and case reports addressing root resorptions through regenerative endodontics. From this selection, the main types of traumas leading to root resorption, the success of regenerative therapy in cases of root resorption, and future perspectives for this treatment profile were discussed. Several studies have demonstrated that this treatment can interrupt the resorption process, promote an increase in the length and thickness of the root canal, and achieve apical closure in teeth with open apices. However, clinical studies with long-term follow-up on this topic are necessary to obtain more details and thus make it possible to include this technique among the treatment options for dental resorptions.
