Abstract: This study aims to conduct an integrative review of the literature to compile the main clinical-therapeutic characteristics of inflammatory internal root resorption, raising the main aspects pertinent to the etiology, treatment and early diagnosis of the lesion. This is an integrative review of the literature. For the present study, articles in English and Portuguese were used, indexed and available in the PubMed and LILACS databases, published in the last five years (2016 - 2021). Duplicate articles, studies with only the available abstract, dissertations, monographs and theses were excluded. Through the research, succinctly, twenty thousand six hundred and nine articles were read per title. After searching for the articles, 33 articles (29 PubMed and 4 LILACS articles) were included in this review, but only 24 articles answered the research objective and were included in the results. It was evident that internal dental resorption is a rare, asymptomatic situation, resulting from a pulp dystrophy that leads to the destruction of hard tissues by osteoclasts. The "pink spot" is a clinical sign that can be found in this pathology. Conical beam computed tomography showed better results for diagnosis. Calcium silicate-based materials have been recommended for filling the channels with internal resorption due to their higher union strength.
