Abstract: INTRODUCTION: The SARS-CoV-2 virus (COVID-19) is an infectious disease that can affect people and symptoms differently, its main route of contamination is the respiratory tract (WHO, 2022). After contamination, symptoms can range from mild to severe, and advanced care and hospitalization may be required. During hospitalization in intensive care units, complications gradually increased and were related to pulmonary fibrosis. Pulmonary fibrosis is a disease that causes lung lesions that prevent the passage of oxygen into the bloodstream. Lung transplant recipients are evaluated to verify compatibility and comorbidities that do not interfere with the procedure. OBJECTIVES: To identify the feasibility of lung transplantation as a therapeutic alternative for patients with post-COVID-19 pulmonary fibrosis. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The materials used to carry out the research were through scientific articles, bibliographical research and exploratory research, being able to identify the risks, dangers, complications after COVID-19, being able to detect the condition of lung transplant recipients, and their post-surgical and pulmonary recovery. RESULTS: The most common symptoms of covid-19 among the population are: fever, cough, fatigue, and loss of taste and/or smell, these are considered mild symptoms, the most serious symptoms are respiratory distress, shortness of breath, diarrhea, respiratory insufficiency, whereas pulmonary fibrosis has symptoms such as a dry cough and shortness of breath, which can be mild to severe. Lung transplantation as a therapeutic alternative for post-COVID-19 patients with pulmonary fibrosis, which can be bilateral or unilateral. Lung transplantation has been offered as a life-saving therapy for some COVID-19 patients who have persistent lung failure (CYPELA: KESHAVJEEA; 2020). To perform the transplant, some comorbidities and indications are checked for each patient who is challenging, with possible organ rejection, maintenance immunosuppression are drugs used to prevent rejection of the transplanted organ, severity of the disease (CYPELA: KESHAVJEEA; 2020). CONCLUSIONS: It is concluded that it is possible to perform lung transplantation as a therapeutic alternative in post-COVID-19 patients with pulmonary fibrosis.
