• Abstract:

  Radiation dosimetry is a complex process and requires significant amount of time for accurate dosimetry. Two-dimensional mapping requires another order of magnitude time and hence films are used for dosimetric purposes. The radiographic films with silver-halide had been the back bone of radiation imaging and dosimetry, however these films require radiation characterization that have been described in literature especially the task group report AAPM TG-69 (1). The radiographic films require labor intensive film processing as well as have significant energy dependence due to photo-electric interactions predominating in high-atomic number medium like silver-halide that is main ingredients in the radiographic film. Radiographic films completely disappeared with emergence of flat panel imaging that could provide real time information with advantage of electronic image processing.
