Abstract: This study aims to explore how play contributes to the enhancement of children's psychomotor development. Employing a narrative-based theoretical-reflective approach, it seeks to instigate deep reflections on teaching practices observed in schools across Parintins, Amazonas, Brazil. The research centers on early childhood and kindergarten classes (1st and 2nd levels), prompted by educators' concerns over students' challenges in fine and gross motor skills. Highlighting the critical need for insightful reflections and dialogues arising from school experiences, the study emphasizes the integral role of play as both a pedagogical activity and a key facilitator of psychomotor growth. The conclusion drawn underscores the essential need for an enhanced recognition and valuation of psychomotor activities, advocating for an educational setting that nurtures comprehensive development. This encompasses expanding education beyond mere literacy and numeracy to include ample opportunities for children to engage in and explore play-based learning, thus enriching their psychomotor abilities.
