Abstract: The " INTEGRAL WATERSHED MANAGEMENT PROJECT IN 1,670 HECTARES WITH INFLUENCE ON PROVINCIAL ROUTE 23 - PROVINCE OF SALTA" is developed in the Lerma Valley, covering the Departments of Cerrillos and Rosario de Lerma in Salta, Argentina. With an area of around 5,146 hectares, the valley is an alluvial plain with a general slope of 1% in the NW-SE direction. The project addresses the management of surface runoff affecting the road infrastructure, particularly Provincial Route 23. It proposes the construction of 7 detention dams that will function as summer laminators and store water for irrigation throughout the rest of the year. Additionally, the creation of 14 water collecting terraces and secondary terraces, along with non-structural measures, is proposed. The study included background collection, planimetric surveying, separation into micro-watersheds, and hydrological/hydraulic study. 28 runoff sub-areas were identified, and a diagnosis of the current situation of the micro-watersheds was conducted. A preliminary project with measures for watershed management was proposed, and a hydrological/hydraulic study was developed for the project situation. The project aims to attenuate the inflow hydrograph of runoff and delay the runoff peak, thus avoiding soil erosion and providing water for irrigation. Agreements with local producers to keep the dams open in summer and closed from April to store irrigation water are highlighted. The project was developed in collaboration with the Federal Investment Council, the Provincial Water Resources Secretariat, and the Provincial Road Directorate, and has generated beneficial agreements for the community and local producers.
