Abstract: Electricity consumption is constantly increasing, whether it is to charge electric cars, power electronic devices, meet the needs of the consumer goods around us or ensure their proper functioning. Seeking to diversify the sources of electrical energy has proven to be the most rational approach to take advantage of this resource for different purposes. In this context, this work aims to build a prototype generator of electrical energy, using ceramic elements of piezoelectric material, capable of converting the mechanical energy of vibration into electrical energy. To achieve this objective, the applied research method, commonly used in engineering problems, was used, allowing to obtain concrete results applicable to the proposed prototype. The system consists of piezoelectric elements attached to an electric motor, which are responsible for converting vibration energy into electrical energy. This electrical energy, generated by piezoelectric elements, was rectified by a diode circuit and stored in capacitors and/or batteries. The prototype, composed of a single piezo element, operating for 1 hour a day, was able to generate enough electrical energy to keep 4 high-brightness LEDs (4 W) on for a time greater than 3.6 minutes. This system showed great application potential, especially when designed with a greater number of piezoelectric elements, that is, a greater number of energy converters, and with a longer operating time.
