Abstract: The use of insecticides is a great ally against several transmitters of diseases, such as Aedes aegypti. However, synthetic chemical insecticides have increased the selection pressure of resistant insects, in addition to the greater persistence in the environment. Therefore, the use of botanical insecticides is an alternative, as they are biodegradable, have less environmental impact and consequently minor damage to health. Some plant species of the Solanacea Family are studied in order to evaluate their insecticide potential . In this sense, the objective of this research was to evaluate the larvicidal activity of the ethanolic extract obtained from the stems and roots of Solanum cf. sisymbriifolium on A. aegypti, quantify the moisture content of the plant and perform phytochemical prospecting. Ethanol extraction was performed by percolation. For the bioassay, third instar larvae were used, exposed to five concentrations, in different periods. With exposure for 12 hours, mortality of 29.33% and 16.66% was observed at concentrations of 20 mg mL -1 and 10 mg mL -1 , respectively. In 36 hours, there was 91.33% mortality in both concentrations. In phytochemical prospecting, alkaloids and flavonoids were observed. The ethanolic extract of S. sisymbriifolium present toxic effect on A. aegypti larvae, demonstrating potential to be used as insecticide.
