PROMOÇÃO DA SAÚDE OCULAR EM CRIANÇAS E ADOLESCENTES: RELATO DE EXPERIENCIA DE ESTUDANTES DE MEDICINA.
Para realizar a promoção à saúde ocular nas crianças, a disciplina PIESF (Programa de Integração do Ensino na Saúde da Família) presente na grade curricular do curso de medicina da UNIFRAN (Universidade de Franca) proporcionou que os graduandos e seus preceptores realizassem uma atividade com as crianças que são acolhidas em um Centro de Convivência para crianças, localizado na cidade de Franca-SP. Este trabalho descreve a experiencia dos alunos do 4º período de medicina nessa atividade realizada. Para que a atividade obtivesse sucesso, foram realizadas, previamente na universidade, uma aula teórico-prática para o conhecimento dos alunos frente o tema a ser abordado; posteriormente no centro de convivência foi executado uma atividade, com as crianças, a fim de identificar o déficit visual, aplicando a tabela de Snellen, os testes de convergência e campo visual, e, por fim, o teste de cores de Ishihara. Além disso, durante a atividade, foi discutido sobre os conceitos do “Olho Humano”; e conscientizado sobre a higienização na manutenção da saúde ocular. Devido a realização dos testes, foi possível considerar que a maioria estava com acuidade visual igual ou superior a 80% em ambos os olhos, sendo três com 60% e duas com 20% de déficit visual relevante e preocupante. Observou-se alguns escolares com algum nível de desatenção, o que poderia estar relacionado a alguma alteração visual e, possivelmente, a um baixo rendimento escolar. Sete participantes foram encaminhados para consulta oftalmológica, e em seis foi confirmado o déficit visual, sendo necessário o uso de óculos. A atividade contribuiu tanto para as crianças e adolescentes, que foram encaminhados para possível solução do seu problema visual, como para os estudantes, que tiveram a oportunidade de realizar atividade de promoção à saúde e prevenção de agravos, articulando com o aprendizado teórico.

Abstract:
To promote eye health in children's, the discipline PIESF (Program for Integration of Teaching in Family Health) present in the curriculum of the medicine course of UNIFRAN (University of Franca) afforded that undergraduate students and their preceptors performed an activity with children's who are hosted in a Center for Children's Coexistence, located in the city of Franca/SP. This paper describes the experience of the 4th period medicine students. For the activity to be successful, a theoretical-practical class was previously held at the university for the students to get acquainted with the theme to be approached; afterwards, an activity was carried out at the center, with the children, in order to identify the visual deficit, applying the Snellen chart, the convergence and visual field tests, and, finally, the Ishihara color test. During the activity, the concepts of the "Human Eye" were discussed; and awareness was raised about hygiene in the maintenance of ocular health. Due to the tests, it was possible to consider that most of them had visual acuity equal to or higher than 80% in both eyes, being three with 60% and two with 20% of relevant and worrisome visual deficit. We observed some students with some level of inattention, which could be related to some visual alteration and, possibly, to low school performance. Seven participants were referred for ophthalmological consultation, in six the visual deficit was confirmed and the use of glasses was required. The activity contributed both for the children and adolescents, who were referred for a possible solution to their visual problems, and for the students, who had the opportunity to carry out health promotion and disease prevention activities, articulating with the theoretical learning.
