Abstract: Introduction: Having a healthy lifestyle is increasingly on the agenda of people looking for a better quality of life. An important means of health information for most people is television media. Governments, health professionals and other experts use it to transmit messages to the population, proposing changes in behavior, highlighting the social, economic and political causes that matter for good health. Objective: To analyze the perception of viewers regarding the contribution of the television program Vida e Saúde to the adoption of healthy habits and the promotion of well-being. Method: This is an exploratory descriptive study with a qualitative approach and non-probabilistic sampling with semi-structured interviews, in which participants reported their perceptions regarding the daily influence of the Vida e Saúde program. The content of the interviews was analyzed based on the technique of the Collective Subject Discourse (DSC) and had the Theory of Social Representations as theoretical support. Results: 50 viewers participated in the study, predominantly women, aged between 25 and 59 years old, mostly evangelicals, with complete primary and secondary education. They reported regular physical health (46%), and good mental health and quality of life (40% and 44% of participants, respectively). Analysis of the content of the interviews revealed that, among the Central Ideas, the following stood out with greater representation: the motivation to seek more knowledge about health was “to have a better quality of life” (48%); regarding the influence of the program, there was a preponderant representation regarding strategy tips for “being healthier” (58%); Among the most difficult healthy habits to adhere to was “practicing physical activity” (34%). Conclusions: Viewers were familiar with health concepts and, for the most part, felt motivated to practice healthy habits because they perceived better health conditions, well-being and quality of life.
