• Abstract: Introduction: The social theory of gender conceptualizes it as dynamic, culturally rooted and linked to historical and social factors, going beyond anatomy. Gender plays a fundamental role in health policy, requiring a more comprehensive understanding. Objective: Investigate and analyze women's health status, with an emphasis on identifying challenges related to gender. Methodology: The present study is characterized as an integrative literature review. The articles were selected from the Virtual Health Library (VHL) database, which had Portuguese and English languages ​​and were published between 2018 and 2022. Results: It was observed that health education plays a crucial role, as a strategy for training women with information on prevention and self-care. Furthermore, universal access to quality health services, covering primary care, family planning and prevention, is essential. Conclusion: Exploring health education strategies plays a crucial role in empowering women to take care of their own health and raising awareness about the specific risk factors that affect them. This can lead to a significant improvement in women's quality of life and well-being, in addition to contributing to the effective prevention and treatment of health problems that impact them.
