Abstract: The mental health of nurses after the COVID-19 pandemic continues to be affected. Hope is defined as an expectation that favorably modifies subjective conjectures of the future. As a resource, it allows finding meaning in suffering, being an important predictor of subjective well-being and mental health. Objective: To evaluate the impact of a specialized intervention in Mental Health and Psychiatric Nursing through the implementation of a program to promote hope and well-being in nurses of a rehabilitation unit. Method: This is a quantitative, pre-experimental study with a single group and pre/post-intervention. Data collection was carried out through a sociodemographic questionnaire to characterize the sample and apply other assessment instruments: Hert Hope Scale-PT, Psychological Well-being Scale-18 items, and Kessler Distress Scale. Results: Eight nurses participated, with an average of 43 years old (SD= 7.44). After the program, there was a decrease in distress levels (Z=-2.410; p<0.05). In the hope and psychological well-being variables, there were no statistically significant differences before and after the program, despite positive variations in the final scores. Conclusion: This program corroborates the importance of training nurses to increase levels of well-being and hope, since they promote the psychological capital of the teams, acting as protective factors of mental health, preventing and minimizing the onset of mental illness in work contexts. It is important to highlight the need for continued future studies, with larger samples, allowing for an increasingly accurate assessment of the health gains obtained by specialized intervention.
