Projeto Geoparque Corumbataí, estrada Boiadeira (Corumbataí, SP): a geologia de paisagens deslumbrantes como incentivo à educação

• Abstract: Project Geopark Corumbataí, Boiadeira road (Corumbataí, SP): the geology of beautiful landscapes as motivation in education. The PET Geology Group at UNESP is using the Boiadeira Road in Corumbataí (SP) as a natural laboratory to implement Geotourism and Education in Geosciences activities. It is a calm unpaved road in the Serra dos Padres, quite steep in the initial part, with some outcrops of rocks, lookouts to observe the characteristic cuesta relief in the region, as well as attractive vegetation, wild animals and some old rural buildings. Therefore, the region offers several elements to create a hiking itinerary for anyone, including new students of the Geology Course. Simple illustrations, as an example elaborated in the present work, can clarify the geological history of the region and the processes that originated the modern topography. The PET Group intends to encourage geoeducation on the road through social media, specific walking apps and also through direct contact with the public. The initiative is a contribution to the Project Geopark Corumbataí, which mainly aims at the conservation of natural resources in the municipalities belonging to the Corumbataí river basin, thus seeking its recognition as a UNESCO Global Geopark.
