Abstract: Cover crops grown alone or in combination can improve soil fertility and increase the performance of successive corn silage crops in integrated agricultural production systems. Thus, the objective of this research was to evaluate the productivity and quality of corn for silage in succession to isolated or intercropped cover crops in an agroforestry system. The study was carried out in the region of Goiânia, Goiás, among rows of barueiro trees (Dipteryx alata Vogel), in soil classified as typical Dystrophic Red Latosol. The experimental design was randomized blocks, with four replications. The cover crops were established in isolated crops: pigeon pea (Cajanus cajan); stylosanthes cv. campo grande (Stylosanthes macrocephala - 20% and Stylosanthes capitata - 80%); massai (Megathyrsus maximus) and in intercropped crops: pigeon pea + massai and stylosanthes + massai. The estimated productivity of corn silage (Mg ha-1) and the quality of corn for silage were evaluated through the determined values of percentages of dry mass, neutral detergent fiber, acid detergent fiber and crude protein. The results demonstrated that the productivity of corn silage is similar among crops with residual straw of stylosanthes, pigeon pea, massai and stylosanthes + massai. However, the percentage of crude protein of corn silage grown in residual stylosanthes is 25, 19, 26 and 23% higher in relation to crops of pigeon pea, massai, stylosanthes + massai and pigeon pea + massai, respectively.
