Abstract: The uses of cover crops in previous crops promote improvements in the quality of tropical soils and provide a better performance of crops in intercropped agro-ecosystems. The objective was to evaluate soybean yield in different types of cover crops. The research was carried out in Juara, Mato Grosso, UNEMAT campus, in randomized blocks with four replications. The cover crops were cultivated in intercropped treatments: Guandu beans (Cajanus cajan); stylish cv. campo grande, brachiaria Ruzizienses, corn (Zea Mays) and Caupi beans (Vigna unguiculata). Plant parameters were evaluated in corn intercropping with cover crops: plant height, number of leaves, stem diameter and productivity. Corn + Brachiaria ruzizienes + cowpea consortium has the greatest potential for increments in corn biomass productivity. The intercropping of maize + Brachiaria ruzizienses + Estilosantes and the consortium maize + Brachiaria ruzizienses + cowpea are the best options for successive cultivation, as they demonstrate higher yields of soybeans.
