PRODUÇÃO E ORGANIZAÇÂO DO ESPAÇO, OS SISTEMAS POLÍTICOS E A PRIMAZIA DA CIDADE DE SANTOS, SP.
Este estudo enfoca a formação e desenvolvimento do espaço e os sistemas de poder na primazia da cidade de Santos, SP. A função portuária sempre dominou a sociedade de Santos desde sua fundação colonial até os dias atuais. A base teórica deste trabalho é baseada na suposição de que o espaço é mais do que uma forma física, é um artefato humano. São as atividades e os sistemas inter-relacionados com as estruturas sociais e políticas que constroem o território. Tudo isso constitui o sistema urbano. A estrutura do poder tem sua expressão espacial. Para tanto, combinam-se os sistemas formais e informais, primeiro produto do aparato administrativo e legal do Estado e o segundo formado por indivíduos e grupos com iniciativas legais e/ou ilegais da sociedade civil. O resultado deste processo gera as formas urbanas e suas conseqüências sociais, econômicas e territoriais. O espaço resulta do sistema de relações de poder em Santos e na região, produto da estrutura social, da distribuição política e do papel do Estado.

Abstract:
This study focuses on the formation and development of space and power systems in the primacy of the city of Santos, SP. The port function has always dominated the society of Santos from its colonial foundation to the present day. The theoretical basis of this work is based on the assumption that space is more than a physical form, it is a human artifact. It is the activities and systems interrelated with the social and political structures that build the territory. All of this constitutes the urban system. The power structure has its spatial expression. To this end, formal and informal systems are combined, the first product of the state's administrative and legal apparatus and the second formed by individuals and groups with legal and / or illegal civil society initiatives. The result of this process generates urban forms and their social, economic and territorial consequences. The space results from the system of power relations in Santos and in the region, the product of social structure, political distribution and the role of the state.
