Abstract: In this study, we will discuss the concepts of peripheral segregation and its relationship with urban accessibility in order to understand the construction of this formation. This will provide deeper reflections on the issue, making the importance of this topic more evident, since it is a social, economic and political problem. The contemporary urban space of capitalist cities is characterized by an urban fabric that resembles an irregular and fragmented mosaic, where different areas present morphological, social and economic variations. Coexisting with spatial segregation, where different social groups, often based on economic, racial or cultural criteria, live separated in distinct areas within a city or region. In spatial segregation, the State plays its role in the dialogue between sectors and in promoting a solution to alleviate the physical separation of different social groups within an urban area or region.
