Abstract: This work presents a new formula for the handmade production of glycerin soap aimed at reducing allergies and skin problems caused by the use of industrial soaps, and demonstrates its teaching based on the learning methodology advocated by Chassot. Handmade soaps have emerged to cater for a more demanding market, which wants something more than what is offered by industrial soaps, raising awareness about the problems caused by the use of commercial cosmetics. The methodology advocated by Chassot brings with it the importance of scientific literacy as a means of learning and forming a student capable of having a better quality of life and understanding of the world. Therefore, the aim is to turn chemistry teaching into a transformative tool, capable of forming a conscious and critical citizen who is able to intervene in society in a positive way, developing a sense of belonging.
