Abstract: The Backlog of Sexual Crimes Traces Project has been idealized by the Management Committee of the Rede Integrada de Banco de Perfis Genéticos, which directed investments to supply equipment and supplies to the States that had presented goals for processing their sexual crimes backlog. The Forensic Molecular Genetics Laboratory (LGMF) of the Paraná's Scientific Police committed to processing two thousand traces of its backlog. It has been contemplated with the automated platform ID STARlet Hamilton. Traces of sexual crimes that occurred between the years 2010 and 2021 from approximately 900 victims were processed. Differential lysis was performed manually, while purification and other steps took place on the ID STARlet Hamilton platform. In less than a year after installing the equipment received from the Secretaria Nacional de Segurança Pública, the LGMF finished the processing and analysis of the two thousand traces it had initially proposed. Thus, 786 male genetic profiles were inserted in the National Bank of Genetic Profiles (BNPG), resulting in 350 observed matches involving 196 victims. In addition, the intersection of these matches generated 79 Coincidence Reports, contemplating matches with other states, convicted offenders, identified suspects, and other cases without suspects. The Backlog of Sexual Crimes Traces Project allowed a significant increase in the Genetic Profile Bank of the Paraná's Scientific Police, which ranked 3rd in the national ranking of the absolute number of traces inserted in the BNPG in 2021.
