Abstract: This work investigates the design of a screw conveyor, also known as a worm screw, aimed at replacing the manual feed transportation system in an agro-industrial company, which has generated risks and resulted in a workplace accident. Fundamental operational aspects are addressed, such as the diameter of the screw, inclination, transport capacity, and required power, ensuring efficient and safe performance. The screw conveyor is valued for its robustness, simplicity of construction, and ability to operate at different angles, making it a viable solution for the continuous transport of granular and pasty materials in sectors such as food, mining, and chemical industry. In addition to providing technical guidelines for the sizing and construction of the equipment, the study emphasizes the importance of automation in improving safety and efficiency in logistical processes, demonstrating how the implementation of an automated system can optimize productivity and reduce risks for workers.
