Abstract: Aseptic pododermatitis, commonly known as laminitis, is characterized by an inflammatory process in the hoof laminae and its adjacent structures. In this context, it is affirmed that this pathology plays a significant clinical role in the hoof health of adult horses, as it causes substantial anatomical and biomechanical impairments linked to the movements of both the forelimbs and hindlimbs. Therefore, early diagnosis is closely associated with effective treatment and a favorable prognosis, as the inflammatory process is considered more manageable and responsive during the early stages of the condition. Moreover, the objective of this study is to synthesize the main factors and impacts related to hoof inflammation, utilizing literature reviews and modern scientific articles concerning the prevalence of this condition in adult equine clinical practice.
