PREVENTIVE ACTIONS DEVELOPED BY NURSES IN PRIMARY CARE: CHALLENGES FOR THE PRACTICE OF QUATERNARY PREVENTION
Objetivo: identificar as ações preventivas desenvolvidas por enfermeiros na Atenção Primária à Saúde. Método: pesquisa qualitativa, realizada com 11 enfermeiros que atuavam na atenção primária de um município do Oeste de Santa Catarina. A produção das informações ocorreu em 2020, por meio de questionário no Google Forms. A análise temática evidenciou duas categorias: ‘Ações preventivas e sua relação com as demandas e intervenções de saúde prevalentes na atenção primária’ e ‘Desafios para prática de prevenção quaternária’. Resultados: as doenças crônicas foram a demanda prevalente e a terapia medicamentosa a mais recomendada aos usuários. Entre os quatro tipos de ações preventivas, os níveis secundário e terciário foram os mais citados. As Práticas Integrativas e Complementares foram consideradas uma opção à prevenção quaternária. Conclusão: evidencia-se a necessidade de aprimoramento para embasar a prática da prevenção quaternária e inspirar estratégias de qualificação das ações preventivas na atenção primária, especialmente, pela enfermagem.

Abstract:
Objective: to identify the preventive actions developed by nurses in Primary Health Care. Method: qualitative research, carried out with 11 nurses who worked in primary health care in a city in the west of Santa Catarina. The production of information occurred in 2020, through a questionnaire on Google Forms. The thematic analysis showed two categories: 'Preventive actions and their relationship with the health demands and interventions prevalent in primary care' and 'Challenges for the practice of quaternary prevention'. Results: chronic diseases were the prevalent demand and drug therapy was the most recommended to users. Among the four types of preventive actions, secondary and tertiary levels were the most cited. Integrative and Complementary Practices were considered an option to quaternary prevention. Conclusion: there is evidence of the need for improvement to support the practice of quaternary prevention and inspire strategies to qualify preventive actions in primary health care, especially by nursing.
