PREVALÊNCIA DAS LESÕES NÃO CARIOSAS NOS ESTUDANTES DE ODONTOLOGIA DA UNIVERSIDADE DO SUL DE SANTA CATARINA
The prevalence of non-carious lesions has increased significantly in the population, these lesions cause aesthetic and functional damages. Objective: To evaluate the incidence of non-carious lesions and associated factors in UNISUL/Tubarão dentistry students. Materials and methods: A questionnaire was applied with questions that evaluated the health conditions, oral hygiene habits and feeding, was also made a exam of the oral cavity of the volunteers to verify the presence of non-carious lesions and classify them. The data obtained were tabulated and subjected to descriptive statistical analysis. The variable "Students" was dichotomized in "basic", including students from the first to fifth stage and "clinical", students from the fifth to the last phase. Results: The results show that the prevalence of non-carious lesions in dentistry students was 93.4%, of the 61 students examined, 57 presented some type of lesion. Regarding the different types of non-carious lesions, 70.9% were occlusal / incisal flat, followed by the occlusal / incisal concave (18.5%) and the angular cervical type (6.4%). The teeth most affected by lesions were the lower central incisors, followed by the upper canines. Conclusion: The prevalence of non-carious lesions among UNISUL/Tubarão dentistry students was considered to be quite high, but no significant correlation was found between the psychological, eating and hygiene factors for the occurrence of these lesions.

Abstract:
A prevalência das lesões não cariosas tem aumentado de forma significativa na população, estas lesões causam prejuízos estéticos e funcionais. Objetivo: Avaliar a incidência de lesões não cariosas em alunos de odontologia da UNISUL/Tubarão e fatores associados. Materiais e métodos: Foi aplicado um questionário com questões que avaliaram as condições de saúde, hábitos de higiene bucal e alimentação, também foi feito exame bucal dos voluntários para verificar a presença de lesões não cariosas e posterior classificação destas. Os dados obtidos foram tabulados e submetidos à análise estatística descritiva. A variável “Alunos” foi dicotomizada em “básico”, incluindo alunos da primeira à quinta fase e “clínico”, alunos da quinta à última fase. Resultado: Os resultados demonstram que a prevalência das lesões não cariosas nos alunos do curso de Odontologia foi de 93.4%, ou seja, dos 61 alunos examinados, 57 apresentaram algum tipo de lesão. Com relação aos diferentes tipos de lesões não cariosas, 70.9% foram oclusal/incisal plana, seguido da oclusal/incisal côncava (18.5%) e do tipo cervical angulada (6.4%). Os dentes mais acometidos por lesões foram os incisivos centrais inferiores, seguidos dos caninos superiores. Conclusão: A prevalência de Lesões não cariosas nos estudantes de Odontologia da UNISUL/Tubarão foi considerada bastante elevada, porém não foi observada correlação significativa entre os fatores psicológicos, alimentares e os hábitos de higiene para a ocorrência destas lesões.
