Abstract: This text presents an overview of the research produced by the Graduate Program in Special Education – PPGEEs of the Federal University of São Carlos – UFSCar. The objective is to find out what there is of research on Specialized Educational Service – SEA in PPGEEs. The study is due to the fact that we experience, albeit at a slow pace, the attempts to evolve in the public policies already in force and the insertion of new policies in the State, contemplating the SEA and the student with disabilities, because some of these policies are not clear about the services or pedagogical actions of this service. Therefore, a thorough analysis of the productions on the theme in question is necessary to understand the distance or approximation between the research and the pedagogical service/action that takes place in the SEA. As one of the few graduate programs with a scope in Special Education in Brazil, the Federal University of São Carlos – UFSCar was chosen as a data source for its pioneering spirit. For data collection, the institutional repository of the program itself was used, primarily theses and dissertations. The studies of Romanowski (2006) and Ferreira (2002) theoretically support the research with regard to the methodology of the study, known as Bibliographic Research. The methodology in question allows us to understand what is in the literature and how the data can contribute to future research, in addition to ascertaining how the theme has been discussed in the academic community. In the analysis of the collected data, it was noticeable that there are linear profiles among the 08 productions that discuss the same discourse to a certain extent, namely: a) teacher training; b) collaborative teaching with a focus on student teaching; c) systematic analysis of training; d) implementation of public policies. Exclusively about the SEA, the productions found discuss the training of teachers for specialized care; organization of the resource room; curriculum and public policies for the effectiveness of the service; and also, pedagogical practices. The research theme will not only serve to understand the current scenario of research in the area, but also serves as a way of fighting for inclusive and quality higher education
