Abstract: Macadamia nut crop areas have been expanding in Brazil. Several pests have been signalized as of economic importance for the main macadamia producing areas abroad. The Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) updates the list of absent quarantine pests (AQP) which present an imminent risk of entering the country and high potential for economic damage to national crops. The present work shows the AQP species of interest for macadamia nut crop in Brazil. Both common and scientific names (including synonyms) of macadamia entomofauna pests of interest to producing areas abroad have been retrieved from international literature and databases by the Project InsetoNut. Subsequently, these species were compared to those officially listed as AQP. Eighteen AQP were identified to date, namely: Bactrocera dorsalis, Chrysobothris mali, Conogethes punctiferalis (syn. Dichocrocis punctiferalis), Cryptophlebia ombrodelta, Cydia pomonella, Cydia splendana, Ectomyelois ceratoniae (syn. Apomyelois ceratoniae), Epiphyas postvittana, Homalodisca vitripennis (syn. Homalodisca coagulata), Hyphantria cunea, Leptocoris rufomarginata, Leptocoris tagalicus (syn. Leptocoris tagalica), Monolepta australis, Pseudotheraptus wayi, Scirtothrips dorsalis, Spodoptera littoralis, Thaumatotibia leucotreta (syn. Cryptophlebia leucotreta), and Thrips hawaiiensis. The results obtained support public policies on phytosanitary defense focusing on Brazilian macadamia nut crops, considered a minor crop belonging to Group 1 (Fruits with non-eating bark, represented by citrus, melon, and coconut) of subgroup 1B (papaya and mango).
