Abstract: Norantea guianensis Aubl. (Marcgraviaceae) is a native and abundant species in the rupestrian fields of the Carajás National Forest (FLONA Carajás), in the southeast of the state of Pará. Due to its ornamental and landscaping attributes, it has a consolidated market in other regions of the country, although it has not yet been exploited in the Carajás region. Its sustainable use can contribute to the diversification of non-timber forest products managed by local extractive communities. In this sense, detailed diagnostic studies are needed on the ecological characteristics of the species, as well as indicators of productive capacity and economic viability for its sustainable management. The aim of this study was to carry out a review of the N. guianensis species, provide a quantitative diagnosis of the species in the Carajás FLONA, and to evaluate its vegetative propagation in order to provide information for diversifying non-timber forest products in the conservation unit.
