Abstract: This chapter discusses the importance of the gestation period as one of the most crucial phases for human development, directly impacting women's lives. It highlights the main public health policies directed at pregnant women. This bibliographic study examines how quality prenatal care contributes to maternal and infant health, promoting the well-being and safety of pregnant women. By ensuring equitable access to health services, prenatal care acts as a catalyst for gender equality, empowering women through comprehensive care and health education. The importance of an inclusive approach that recognizes the diverse needs of pregnant women is emphasized, contributing to the reduction of inequalities and the promotion of social justice. Through this lens, prenatal care is presented not only as a medical practice but as a crucial element for advancing gender equality goals, demonstrating how effective public policies can transform women's health and lives, aligning with the global objectives of the United Nations Agenda 2030 for sustainable development goals.
