Abstract: This article intends to promote a dialogue between the field of Linguistic Policy and notions and concepts developed by Adela Cortina in her work “Aporophobia”. A moral philosophy scholar, this author introduces the reader to the debate on the origin of prejudices, arguing that they originate both in moral evolution and in the genetic predisposition of the human being. She points out that the main form of prejudice is that directed against the poor, seen as the "disabled" in the exchange society, and proposes several ways to combat this type of discriminatory attitude, among them what she calls "cosmopolitan hospitality". Referred idea dialogues, at the same time, with the notion of “language prejudice” in Marcos Bagno sense, being able to serve language policy scholars as relevant starting points for research in their respective fields.
