Abstract: Polyps are lesions that originate through a local inflammatory response and are located mainly in the ear canal and nasopharynx. Affected cats may show signs such as nasal discharge, dysphagia, rales, Horner's syndrome and otorrhea, depending on the location of the mass. The diagnosis is obtained through imaging tests or visual examination, associated with histopathology. The treatment consists of the removal of the polyp through a variety of surgical techniques. The aim of this study was to report a case of nasopharyngeal polyp. A feline, female, whole, SRD, 6 years old, with a history of productive cough, dyspnea, and progressive weight loss for one month, was treated at the Veterinary Hospital of the Universidade Federal Rural of Semi-Árido. On physical examination, inspiratory dyspnea and rales were observed. Hematological and biochemical tests and chest radiography were requested. Examinations revealed a right shift leukocytosis. On radiography, the findings were suggestive of bronchopneumonia. In view of the exams, amoxicillin with potassium clavulanate, N-acetylcysteine and nebulization with saline solution were prescribed. The animal returned after 30 days with no improvement in inspiratory dyspnea and crackles. In view of the situation, some structure in the upper respiratory tract was suspected and then sedation was performed to examine the oral cavity through a laryngoscope, where a mass was observed in the pharynx region. The animal was anesthetized to remove the structure by avulsion, being sent for histopathological analysis, where the diagnosis of nasopharyngeal polyp was confirmed. Antibiotic therapy and post-surgical corticosteroid therapy were prescribed, and the animal returned after 7 and 30 days with total improvement of clinical signs. Nasopharyngeal polyps should be among the differential diagnoses of felines with upper respiratory tract signs.
