PNEUMONIA ASSOCIADA A VENTILAÇÃO MECÂNICA: CONHECIMENTO DOS ACADÊMICOS DE ENFERMAGEM ACERCA DA PREVENÇÃO
A Pneumonia Associada à Ventilação Mecânica é uma infecção frequente nos pacientes que necessitam está em uso do ventilador mecânico. Objetivou investigar acerca do conhecimento dos acadêmicos de enfermagem sobre prevenção da Pneumonia associada a ventilação mecânica. Trata-se de um estudo descritivo, exploratório de caráter qualitativo, realizada com 50 acadêmicos de enfermagem de uma instituição privada de ensino superior, que responderam um questionário estruturado. Observou-se que as principais respostas foram referentes à higienização das mãos, sedação do paciente, higiene oral e cabeceira elevada. E em relação ao conhecimento do protocolo de PAV, 64% dos estudantes afirmaram conhecê-lo, mas as medidas de prevenção ainda são pouco conhecidas pelos estudantes. Concluiu-se que os alunos podem estar completando o curso com noção básica dos cuidados para a prevenção da Pneumonia Associada à Ventilação Mecânica, e alguns cuidados pouco observados constituem um resultado necessário de ser reavaliado, precisando de um planejamento curricular das instituições de ensino que facilite o processo e o entendimento acerca dos cuidados de enfermagem para pacientes em uso de ventilação mecânica invasiva.

Abstract:
Pneumonia Associated with Mechanical Ventilation is a frequent infection in patients who need it and is using a mechanical ventilator. It aimed to investigate about the knowledge of nursing students on the prevention of Pneumonia associated with mechanical ventilation. This is a descriptive, exploratory study of a qualitative character, carried out with 50 nursing students from a private higher education institution, who answered a structured questionnaire. It was observed that the main responses were related to hand hygiene, patient sedation, oral hygiene and elevated headboard. Regarding the knowledge of the VAP protocol, 64% of students said they knew it, but prevention measures are still little known by students. It was concluded that students may be completing the course with a basic notion of care for the prevention of Pneumonia Associated with Mechanical Ventilation, and some poorly observed care is a necessary result to be reevaluated, needing a curricular planning from educational institutions that facilitate the process and understanding about nursing care for patients using invasive mechanical ventilation.
